How the Lawn Rebate Program Works in Los Angeles & Orange County
1
Eligibility Review and Application Support
Many Los Angeles and Orange County agencies — including LADWP and MWDOC member districts — require customers to receive approval before turf is removed. Strata works directly with your local water provider to confirm eligibility document existing turf areas and assist with the rebate application process to help prevent project disqualification.
2
Pre-Approval & Site Inspection Coordination
In LA-area jurisdictions, rebate programs often require pre-inspection to verify existing turf and irrigation coverage prior to project start. Our team helps coordinate pre-inspection scheduling and ensures all program requirements are addressed before work begins, reducing the risk of funding denial due to early removal.
3
Turf Removal & Site Preparation
Communities in graded or hillside developments common throughout Los Angeles County may require soil stabilization or drainage planning during turf removal. Strata manages removal and prepares the site in accordance with rebate program guidelines to help prevent runoff or erosion issues that could impact approval. Depending on the scope of work and availability, Strata will complete installation within 30 days.
4
Installation of Approved Drought-Tolerant Landscaping
LA and OC agencies may require plant palettes aligned with California-native or low-water-use species lists approved by participating municipalities. We install drought-tolerant landscaping and irrigation systems that meet local program criteria, helping ensure compliance during final verification. After the final inspection (typically within two weeks) property owners can expect the rebate check within 90 days.
Total duration: 4–6 months from kickoff to rebate payout.
